Pioneers in sustainable agriculture including using renewable green energy, dedicating perpetual nature preserves and wildlife compatible farming and grazeland.
Joseph E. Gallo’s farming success took root in the San Joaquin Valley, where he began working on his parent’s farm, and devoted his life to agriculture. After serving in World War II, he returned home where he founded Joseph Gallo Farms.
As a young boy, Joseph fell in love with the art of cheese making. This lifelong romance was nurtured by tasting his grandparent’s homemade cheese at their home and then honed through a lifetime of hard work and dedication to a craft few others have mastered. In 1982 he built a cheese plant introducing Joseph Farms Cheese, which has grown into the retail award winning, California favorite brand of cheese.
In 2019, the Family made the decision to separate the farming operations off into Gallo Farming, which now manages over 3400 acres of almonds. Making Gallo Farming one of the largest independent almond growers in California.
